Consulting and Coaching for 2e People, by 2e People
Australia's Leading Twice-Exceptional Education Specialist
Exceptional Like Me provides expert, neuroaffirming support for gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) individuals, led by Dr. Olivia Evans (PhD), who bridges high-level academic qualifications with her own lived experience as a 2e person.
What is Twice-Exceptionality (2e)?
Understanding the Intersection
For those unfamiliar with the term, twice-exceptionality (often abbreviated as 2e) refers to individuals who possess high cognitive potential or giftedness alongside one or more disabilities. This unique combination means that while a person may excel in areas like abstract reasoning or creative problem-solving, they also face challenges related to conditions such as ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety or specific learning differences (e.g. dyslexia or dysgraphia).
Note that other terms may be in use (for example, the NSW Department of Education uses the term 'high potential and gifted students with disability'), but 'twice exceptional' is the primary internationally recognised term in education, so that is the term that we use.
"Being twice-exceptional means living in the tension between ‘can’ and ‘can’t.’ For years, my academic successes hid the internal exhaustion of navigating a world not designed for my neurodivergent brain. Understanding my 2e identity was the key to finally aligning my potential with my well-being."
