Subject Tutoring

Bridging the Gap Between Ability and Achievement

Mastering the Subject on Your Own Terms

For the twice-exceptional (2e) student, the classroom can be a place of deep frustration. They often possess the intellectual capacity to excel, yet their grades may not reflect their potential due to executive functioning hurdles, sensory overwhelm, or a disconnect with traditional teaching methods.

At Exceptional Like Me, subject tutoring is about more than just content delivery. It is a specialised, one-on-one partnership designed to help neurodivergent learners translate their high-level thinking into academic success - without the cost of burnout.

Mastering The Subject On Your Own Terms
Who Its For

Who It’s For

  • 2e Students (ages 10 and up): Those who are academically gifted but also navigate neurodivergence.
  • Focus Areas: Olivia specialises in English and the humanities (History, social sciences, etc.), where the demands for writing, analysis, and organisation are often highest.
  • Custom Requests: Support for other subjects may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

How We Work

Traditional tutoring often doubles down on "more of the same" schoolwork. Olivia’s approach is fundamentally different:

Neuro-Affirming Methods
We use strategies that work with the student’s profile - leveraging hyper-focus and creative association while providing scaffolding for areas like task initiation and essay structure.
Advanced Academic Expertise
With years of experience teaching Stage 6 English, Olivia understands the specific pressures of the senior curriculum. She specialises in the "hidden curriculum" of high-stakes assessment, helping 2e students master complex requirements without the cost of burnout.
Sustainable Excellence
We focus on achieving results through efficiency and strategy, ensuring that academic success doesn't come at the expense of a student’s mental well-being.
Holistic Support
Tutoring sessions often naturally integrate elements of self-advocacy and confidence-building, helping students reclaim their identity as "capable learners."
